Michael, their mobile nature is what I am most interested in. I travel enough and do enough work outside my home/office that a really portable (read: light and small) laptop with good battery life would see more use. However, the Air is so incredibly expensive that it makes no sense for me to even think about it. I would choose the Macbook, but that too is quite pricey.

I'm not sure that the MacBook Air can be compared to the eeePC. The specs are like way apart. I definitely think that the Air is a good choice for current Mac owners as it will link in to their systems.

I can see it as an easy extension to my home situation. Everyone in the house could have their own Air, which connects through to the iMacs and their extra storage. This would allow us to do everything we need throughout the house.

On the other hand, the eeePC allows for easy Linux installation. For me personally this would be a good choice in that I find Ubuntu Linux the best OS for web development. It easily allows me to sync in all my SSH connections and whatnot.

Then again, I can always install Linux on the Air on on a remote iMac as a virtual install.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that the two systems appear to me to only be similar in one respect.

Their lightweight and mobile nature.

Mark,

This is going to be pretty sweet once they finally come out with one that is touchscreen. Like the treonauts reviewer, I'd be very tempted to upgrade my 680 if they come out with one of these slimmer models with a feature set I already currently have... or who knows, maybe even something with a few more bells and whistles.

Hey, what can I say? There just aren't as many good themes out there these days as there are plugins - which is a cryin' shame, if you ask me. :)
